Assistant Controller - Relocate to Salmon Arm, BC

TalentCompass is hiring an Assistant Controller for our client based in Salmon Arm. This is an onsite full-time permanent role and relocation to the area is required.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of the monthly general ledger close responsibilities for the corporate entities, including the preparation of the journal entries, account reconciliations and analysis.
  • Help prepare month-end, quarter-end and year-end financial reports for management
  • Implement, document and maintain adequate and effective internal controls that are audited
  • Review all monthly or quarterly sales tax filings
  • Help draft financial statements and analyzes financial data
  • Keeps financial data up to date by identifying and explaining variances
  • Provides support to managers by participating in various files and strategic projects as needed
  • Manage Accounts Payable functions to ensure all invoices are entered timely and accurately, vendor relations are managed and prioritized, obligations are met timely, and the department is staffed adequately.
  • Manage Accounts Receivable functions to ensure timely collection of revenue, appropriate credit terms/limits granted to customers, accurate application of customer receipts, timely and accurate customer invoicing, and the department is staffed adequately.
  • Supporting the implementation of a new SAP S4/HANA system.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in accounting or related field
  • CPA or CPA candidate a strong asset
  • Experience with SAP S4/HANA system is an asset
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in an accounting firm or in a financial analyst/controller assistant role
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent time management, project management and planning skills required
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Must possess strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to work in a collaborative team environment
  • Ability to multi-task and work with a high sense of urgency in a fast-paced environment
