Senior Machine Operator

We are building relationships with experienced Senior Machine Operators for opportunities with a leading Central Alberta manufacturer specializing in oilfield pressure-control equipment. We are seeking skilled operators with experience running CNC and/or conventional machinery in a precision-manufacturing or industrial environment.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC and/or conventional production equipment, including lathes, mills and multi-tasking machines
• Review work orders, technical drawings, blueprints and machining specifications before beginning production
• Load materials, select appropriate tooling and make machine adjustments or offset changes as required
• Monitor machine performance throughout the production process to maintain efficiency, accuracy and product quality
• Perform in-process measurements and inspections using micrometers, calipers, gauges and other precision-measuring equipment
• Identify machine, tooling or production issues and make appropriate adjustments within the scope of the position
• Produce components used in pressure-control and oilfield equipment while following established specifications and quality standards
• Support less-experienced operators by providing guidance on equipment operation, procedures, quality requirements and safe work practices
• Complete production, inspection and traceability documentation accurately
• Perform routine machine maintenance and promptly report equipment requiring repair or additional servicing
• Follow all company safety procedures, quality-control processes and operating standards
• Maintain a clean, safe and organized work area
• Work collaboratively with machinists, production, engineering, quality and other shop personnel to meet production requirements

Qualifications

• Several years of experience operating CNC and/or conventional machines in a manufacturing or industrial environment
• Previous experience working in a senior, lead or highly independent machine-operator capacity is preferred
• Experience setting up machines, changing tooling and making offsets or operational adjustments
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, work orders and machining specifications
• Experience using micrometers, calipers, gauges and other precision-measuring tools
• Strong understanding of production processes, quality-control requirements and safe machine operation
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
• Ability to identify quality concerns and take appropriate corrective action
• Experience manufacturing components for the oil and gas industry or pressure-control equipment is an asset
• Machining, manufacturing or related technical education is an asset; Journeyperson certification is not required
• Ability to work independently, support other operators and contribute effectively as part of a team
• Valid Class 5 driver’s licence with an acceptable driver’s abstract
• CSTS, First Aid, WHMIS, forklift, overhead crane or other industry- or site-specific tickets are assets
